“Rockets are cooked” – Fred VanVleet being ‘tempted’ with LeBron James’ annual pay leaves fans SHOCKED
NBA fans were shocked by the Rockets' exorbitant contract offer to Fred VanVleet
Fred VanVleet of the Toronto Raptors
The Houston Rockets are expected to strike first in the free agency market once the NBA’s 2023 free agency window officially opens on June 30th.
The Rockets have one of the most flexible cap spaces in the league and with a clear need for a veteran in the locker room, the team is expected to pursue free agent Fred VanVleet of the Toronto Raptors and have been reported that the team is luring him with a superstar level salary.
As reported by Michael Grange: “One league source told me the Rockets, armed with $60 million in cap room and no state tax in Texas, are going to tempt VanVleet with a two-year deal for $80 million adding veteran stability to a roster teeming with talented players on rookie contracts.”
The Rockets are in the driver’s seat in free agency as the team is left with $64.3 million cap room to work with, this means that Houston can offer the 29-year-old VanVleet a $40 million per year contract, but for only two years.
This attempt came after VanVleet declined his $22.8 million player option a few weeks ago. This deal can be beneficial for both parties with the Rockets gaining much-needed veteran guidance and a chance for a money-grab for the veteran guard.
NBA fans react to Houston’s INSANE offer sheet to Fred VanVleet
As good of a player VanVleet is, let us be honest he is not worth a $40 million per year contract as those type of contracts is reserved for All-NBA calibre players. Also keep in mind that if the Rockets sign Fred to this deal they will miss out on superstars like James Harden and other stars who are looking for a huge payday.
NBA fans on Twitter were rather shocked by the details of the offer that Houston was reportedly making, saying that VanVleet is still far from being worth that type of money. You Can Check The Reactions Below:
