“I CAN’T be injured” Fred VanVleet tears apart his jersey in frustration after sustaining hip injury in Game 4 vs Sixers
Fred VanVleet - Toronto Raptors
Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam are the two guys upon whom the Toronto Raptors heavily depend upon if they are having any hopes of making a comeback against the Philadelphia 76ers in the first-round series. While the latter team has found success in the initial 3 games of this particular series, VanVleet has not left any hope of turning the tables around at any point.
However, in Game 4 vs the 76ers, Fred VanVleet was left majorly frustrated as he tore apart his jersey while making his way to the locker room after sustaining a hip injury. With a marquee scorer trying to give his all, it in indeed an unfortunate sight to witness him leave a game in such fashion.
Fred VanVleet tears his jersey in Game 4 of Raptors vs Sixers
The home team have all to do against the Philadelphia 76ers in the first-round series being 3-0 down. But VanVleet’s exit from the game did not let his teammates get disheartened as Pascal Siakam took the responsibility to get him team over the line in Game 4. Extending the series to Game 5, the Raptors have ensured another game but will be aware of the threat of the home fans in the City of Brotherly Love.
Talking about the performance of Fred VanVleet, he recorded five points, three assists and two rebounds before heading to the locker room. He has been the Toronto Raptors’ most important player all year, leading them in assists per game and coming in second in points per game while providing some elite defense.
With Scottie Barnes being awarded the ROTY accolade before this game, it seems like the Raptors had enough motivation to stretch the game for long and even beyond the reach of 76ers.
With James Harden leading the opposition attack in this game, the Raptors will be well aware of how to guard all of the opposition marquee players, with VanVleet most probably out of the next contest and even beyond. Will we witness a dynamic change in the outcome of the series? Or have the Raptors only postponed their departure from the playoffs? Remains to be seen.
