WATCH: ‘Frustrated’ Josh Hart tosses headband mid-play after irritating struggles during triple-double performance against 76ers
Josh Hart and the New York Knicks are in a tough stretch to maintain their playoff position.
New York Knicks star Josh Hart tossed his headband after struggling with it during triple-double outing against the Philadelphia 76ers
The New York Knicks are on an important run now to solidify their playoff position. They played the second home game in 3 days against the Philadelphia 76ers. After a frustrating loss the last time, the Knicks won comfortably tonight. Josh Hart led the team to that victory. And during that performance, he tossed his headband after struggling with it during his triple-double production.
Josh Hart was playing lights out tonight. Playing the forward position without injured superstar Julius Randle, Hart took on the rebounding load. Getting hit in the head is a part of the process while going up for rebounds. Multiple times his headband came loose. Finally, towards the end of the third quarter, Hart took off his headband and tossed it to the sideline. In that play, he went onto score a tough layup to increase the New York Knicks‘ lead.
When Hart tossed the headband, he had already grabbed 14 of his 19 rebounds. He tossed the headband and proceeded to score the layup.
No headband, no problem for Josh Hart.commentator shouted during the play
This play helped Hart to his fourth triple-double of the season. A 6′ 4″ guard to grab 19 rebounds in a game is unheard of. Add to that his 20 points and 10 assists helped cement the win for the Knicks with a scoreline of 106-79.
The Knicks lost the previous game 2 nights back to the Philadelphia 76ers in terrible fashion. Shooting miserably from the field held them to the lowest score in this NBA season. The Knicks vowed to bounce back. And bounce back they did behind Hart’s triple-double and double-digit contributions from 5 other players.
Josh Hart talks about headband toss mid game
The headband toss was captured live on national television. His ensuing play to finish a tough layup completed the scenario. Naturally, they were going to ask him about this play during the post-game interview.
I'm more of a headband guy, but I.....kept getting it slapped. Headband was flying, you know, it was coming off. So let me not get fined. So, I just had to throw it off and get a new one.Hart said
Hart alluded that he was getting hit on the head all game long. This is why he tossed the headband. He hilariously suggested that he also got hold of a new one to avoid a fine.
Josh Hart and the New York Knicks need to win as many games as they can until Randle returns. They got back OG Anunoby from injury tonight, who helped the Knicks give the Philadelphia 76ers some payback. This win will also help the form, momentum as well as mentality as they go on a road trip where they will face three playoff teams.
Tonight, Josh Hart’s motivation was to go all-out and secure the win for the New York Knicks. His triple-double certainly helped that goal. But he tossed his headband, which at the time was getting in the way of that goal.
