The Denver Nuggets redeem themselves at home after two straight losses on the road. Going into Games 2 and 3, the Nuggets faced the Phoenix Suns who were without their veteran guard, Chris Paul. Though the Suns had no problem facing Denver at home. Led by Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, they rallied past the Nuggets after two nail-biting games.

Game 5, on the other hand, wasn’t the best for the Suns. Playing on the road, the team’s supporting cast didn’t contribute as much on the floor. Durant put up 26 points and 11 rebounds, whereas Booker led the way with 28 points. The bench added 26 points to the Suns’ total, as they fell to the Nuggets, 102-118. The game definitely had the players filled with frustration during the game.

With half a minute to go in the third, Bruce Brown tried to break into the Suns’ huddle. Durant certainly didn’t allow that, as he shoved Bruce out of the way. Nikola Jokic tried to do the same, as he looked over the Suns’ huddle. Durant didn’t appreciate Jokic either, shoving him away from the coaches as well as the players. The referees who were right at the scene assessed KD with a technical foul.

Jokic had to sell the shove hard, though he wasn’t acting any different while near the Suns’ huddle. It just showed KD’s frustration, as the team was down 20 points at the time. Booker and Durant put it all on the floor, whereas the bench took the game pretty lightly. The Suns could’ve been better in this game, but couldn’t handle the Nuggets’ scoring storm.

With the Nuggets going up 3-2, the Suns can only force a Game 7 to make it past the second round. The series will continue in Phoenix, with the Suns looking to push for Game 7. Both of the teams haven’t won a road game till now. The Nuggets were up 2-0 before the series went to Arizona, after which the Suns tied it up t 2-2. Denver took Game 5 at home, now leading the series 3-2.

If the pattern is to continue, the Nuggets might as well win the series in seven games. Though they will definitely try to seal the second round going into Game 6. The Suns looked pretty weak, with their bench having low numbers, though they are definitely capable of taking down the Nuggets without Chris Paul. It will be interesting to see whether the Nuggets can close it out in Phoenix.
