The Golden State Warriors are used to being the big dogs in the NBA’s Western Conference. However, things finally seem to have come to a headway, due to a number of reasons.

Uncertainty surrounding Draymond Green played a huge part, and the Warriors’ confusion with respect to their best starting lineup has been consistently evident in the season thus far. At the same time, the organization still has extremely experienced players and knows exactly what needs to be done in order to make a comeback.

Recently, after the Warriors’s loss against the Memphis Grizzlies, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reported that Stephen Curry was engaged in an emotional conversation with Green, in the locker room after the match

He claimed that the two were talking animately about exactly how bad the team has been, defensively:

And then in the locker room postgame, [Draymond Green] and Steph [Curry] were over there like, relatively loudly discussing how bad they've been defensively. Going through the numbers and talking about how bad they were when they were out and like they're bottom-five, and discussing, 'Oh wait, which teams are we better than? Like the Pistons, who else?' And this is something that the locker room can hear them discussing.

The conversation is further evidence of the fact that the Warriors are close to losing patience, and both Curry and Green have been desperate to solve the defensive frailties. However, that has not happened thus far, with the two veterans effectively comparing themselves to the Detroit Pistons.

The Pistons, of course, have made history this campaign for all the wrong reasons. They are 15th in their Conference and have a record of 4-37, having generated what was the longest losing streak in the history of the league already this season.

Draymond Green apologized to Stephen Curry after being suspended

The Warriors had something to rejoice recently when Green made his return after serving what turned out to be a 14-game suspension. The 4-time Champion had claimed on his The Draymond Green Show podcast that the only person he felt the need to apologize to, was Stephen Curry.

He claimed that he was well aware of the question marks put upon Curry’s leadership as a result of the controversy he got into:

One thing throughout this process that really hurt me, I turned on the TV screen and saw ‘Stephen is a bad leader because Draymond did X,’  It p—– me off, but it crushed me. It crushed me because how is Steph enduring me, being a bad leader? This guy doesn’t give us anything to tear him down about. This guy does everything the right way. Yet, he’s being torn down because of my actions…And because he got crushed publicly for that, I’m going to apologize publicly. I sincerely apologize to Steph for my actions because that was a tough pill to swallow.

The Warriors are currently 12th in the West, with an 18-22 record. While the hope of a successful season reduces on a weekly basis, the franchise still has multiple veteran stars they will be hoping can lead them out of trouble. That, in addition to Green’s apology and the recent conversation, suggests that they are on the right track, even if things have not picked up in recent weeks.
