“I reached back there and tried to pull it back down,” Gary Vitti reveals the hilarious method Kobe Bryant used to fix his RUPTURED Achilles Tendon
Kobe Bryant mimed discomfort as he sat down. Gary Vitti recognised he had torn his Achilles.
Nobody else in the NBA will likely ever approach the game with the same tenacity that Kobe Bryant did for a very long time. Throughout his 20 years in the NBA, Bryant’s main goal was to win, no matter what. Even in his 17th NBA season, he was averaging 27.3 points on 46.3% field goal shooting while participating in 78 games.
Sadly, Kobe would tear his Achilles tendon during the Lakers’ third-to-last regular-season game against the Golden State Warriors. When Gary Vitti, LA’s athletic trainer, questioned Kobe Bryant about what had happened during the game, Kobe Bryant would characterize the discomfort as if he had been kicked in the back of the leg.
“I reached back there and tried to pull it back down,” Vitti claimed that Bryant said. The Mamba was in desperation to play for his team and prove that he was never going to back down. The player was described as eager to find an immediate solution.
From this account, Vitti could roughly infer that The Black Mamba had torn his Achilles. Knowing Kobe Bryant, he not only continued the game to attempt his free throws, but he also insisted that the medical personnel schedule his operation to fix it for the following day.
Despite Stephen Curry scoring 47 points, the Lakers managed to win the game and slipped into the playoffs as the 7th seed with 45 victories. However, they would be thoroughly eliminated from the first round by the eventual winner’s San Antonio Spurs.

How many NBA championship rings does Kobe Bryant have?
With six rings that he earned with two different three-peats, Michael Jordan is the most successful legend in NBA history, apart from Bill Russell’s inhumanely high amount of championships. When Kobe first joined the Lakers, he did so alongside Shaquille O’Neal, and that is when he achieved the three-peat.
Between the years 2000 and 2002, they grew to be the dominant force. However, Kobe Bryant needed to win more championships without Shaq in order to establish his status as one of the all-time greats. During those years Lakers were genuinely unbeatable.
After leaving the Lakers, Shaquille O’Neal joined the Miami Heat, where he won his fourth NBA Championship ring while playing alongside a young Dwyane Wade. Following that, Kobe Bryant appeared determined to top what Shaq accomplished after leaving the Lakers.
Kobe Bryant enjoyed success in the late 2000s and reached three consecutive finals. If not for Kevin Garnett’s Boston Celtics, Kobe would have likely won that first of three finals he participated in between 2008 and 2010. The Lakers legend then won two consecutive championships in 2009 and 2010.
