After a disappointing first-round playoff exit, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks have their eyes on a 3x All-star to bolster their lineup. The Miami Heat are also rumored to be in the race for the Washington Wizards guard after their fairytale run to the NBA Finals, which saw them win the most games as an 8-seed in playoff history.

The all-star in question is Bradley Beal; the Wizards and Beal are collectively working to explore trade options, as per NBA insider Shams Charania. The guard still has four years left on his five-year / $251,019,650 contract, which he signed last season. The contract also includes a no-trade clause which allows Beal to reject any trade offer he is unwilling to go through with.

Jimmy Butler’s Miami Heat have potential trade options, such as Tyler Herro, who is just returning from an injury and missed the entire 2023 playoffs, and Duncan Robinson. Their role players, such as Caleb Martin and Gabe Vincent, will also be on the trade pile if the trade involves more than one team. On the other hand, Antetokounmpo and the Bucks would likely offload Khris Middleton, who would not be a viable option for the Wizards, who are looking for a rebuild.

The Milwaukee Bucks have had Grayson Allen as their starting guard in the playoffs, and getting Beal would be a significant upgrade for him. The Bucks have defensive stalwarts in the Greek Freak, Brook Lopez, and perimeter defender Jrue Holiday and adding a high-scoring guard to that lineup would make them a finals threat for sure.

Butler and the Heat, on the other hand, have significant draft capital for the trade to go through. As per Shams Charania, the deal will look to take place before the NBA 2023 draft on Thursday, and the Heat will have three first-round picks they can trade on that day. Adding those picks to a player like Herro or Robinson would put them in the driver’s seat to land Bradley Beal.

The Miami Heat would finally add a reliable scoring option next to Jimmy Butler to go with their top-tier defense and an experienced coach. Beal could be a better defender, but the teams going for him already have a defensive structure. They are looking to add more scoring alongside their primary guys, like Antetokounmpo and Butler. Whoever pulls off the trade for Beal would be among the favorites to win the Eastern Conference next season.
