The moment for Milwaukee Bucks fans has finally come. The dynamic duo of Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo were seen for the first time together on court on Sunday. Their first game together was much awaited and it came in their preseason clash against the Lakers on Sunday.

In general, pre-season games are supposed to be a relatively relaxed affair. It helps showcase the depth of the teams, and is considered a warm-up to the regular season. As such, players play it the same way, often being lax on defense. However, the Lakers opted to pressurize Lillard, often double-teaming the point guard in his first appearance as a Buck.

Antetokounmpo noticed the Lakers’ unusual effort on defense in a preseason game, saying, “I’ve never seen someone double-teamed on the 1st play of the game. It was a surprise.”

Antetokounmpo further added on,” It’s a preseason game. Not a playoff game, not a regular season game, not an in-season tournament game, or a play-in game.”

The Lakers’ attempts to thwart Lillard on his Bucks debut did little to amuse the two-time NBA MVP.

How did Damian Lillard fare against the Lakers

The pre-season matchup ended in the Bucks favor, beating the LeBron James-less Lakers 108-97. Lillard was the second-highest scorer for the Bucks.

He was on the floor for 22 minutes in which he scored 14 points. His chemistry with Antetokounmpo looked promising, as was his shooting.

Antetokounmpo also had an impressive night, scoring 16 points. The Lakers will hope to improve the flow of their offense before the regular season starts. They will also need to start looking for answer to the Lillard and Antetokounmpo combo, since they appeared shorthanded today.
