Giannis Antetokounmpo is a certified NBA superstar there’s no doubt about it. He brings championship contention to the Milwaukee Bucks solely by being a part of the franchise. With the right pieces around him, he will bring home a championship. He has proven this before in 2021 winning a title against the Phoenix Suns, bringing an end to a 50-year championship drought for the franchise, rather poetically, by dropping 50 points on the Suns, to secure the victory.
Antetokounmpo has clearly been frustrated this past season, even though the Bucks went into the post-season. As the undisputed number one seed, they failed to make an impact during the playoffs exiting early at the hands of the Jimmy Butler-led Miami Heat. His frustration was clearly visible after his now infamous speech in the post-game interview talking about how “there is no failure in sports.“
He has now made his intentions very clear and has been threatening the Bucks with the decision to leave if they no longer are building around chasing a championship. With Antetokounmpo openly expressing his interest towards finding a new home, if they have better potential for winning a chip, teams have already started gearing up for facilitating the trade. As per ESPN, there as various teams interested in the superstar, including the Golden State Warriors, New Orleans Pelicans, Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets, and New York Knicks.

How has Giannis Antetokounmpo’s career been so far?
Giannis is a top tier player who has set an example for aspiring NBA prospects for the value of hard work. With Antetokounmpo potentially leaving the Bucks after his historic tenure, it only seemed appropriate to look back at his career so far.
Antetokounmpo has showed no signs of slowing down coming off the 2022-23 season, averaging a monstrous 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists. He is a true rags to riches story, as he grew up in poverty while growing up in Greece, constantly hustling on the streets selling DVDs, shades, etc., anything that could help put food on his family’s table . The three brothers started playing basketball as a way to earn money, however, all three could not play at once, as they all shared a single pair of shoes.
He was drafted as a project the Bucks could work on long term in 2013. He has now grown to live up to his potential and then some. Antetokounmpo has a laundry list of accolades that include, being an NBA champion in 2021 along with the Finals MVP trophy, two time NBA regular season MVP, seven time NBA All-Star 5x All-NBA first team, 2x All-NBA Second Team, NBA defensive player of the year in 2020, NBA most improved player in 2017 and he is now regarded as one of the greatest power forwards of all time, even receiving the honor of being a part of the NBA 75th anniversary team.
Giannis Antetokounmpo averaged 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists in 63 games in 2022-23. He was selected to play in his seventh All-Star game. His team were the number one seed heading into the playoffs but were shockingly eliminated.
Antetokounmpo wasn’t able to contribute as much due to suffering from a lower back bruise. He missed three of out the five games in the series and has now expressed an interest in joining another franchise for the first time in his career. Fans will just have to wait and watch, to see if he goes through with it or the Bucks surround him with the appropriate pieces and manage to keep the star.
