Giannis Antetokounmpo hilariously describes his relationship with Patrick Beverley.
The Milwaukee Bucks took on the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. The Bucks ended their trip to LA with a 124-117 win. The stars of the Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard were dominant as both players scored double-double to get the win. Antetokounmpo put up 34 points and 10 assists and Lillard with 35 points and 11 assists.
After the win, Antetokounmpo attended the Bucks press conference. The Bucks forward was asked about the team’s new addition Patrick Beverley, who was traded in February. Antetokounmpo who is famous for his cheeky humor, had an interesting answer.
He said:
He's one of those guys that, Sorry for my language ,that you say, 'he's an A-hole.' But when he plays on your team, like, 'that's my a-hole.' You know? And I love him.Giannis Antetokounmpo said
The star’s response generated a big laughter in the room.
Antetokounmpo and Beverley have played against each other over the years. This is the first time they are playing as teammates. While talking about the transition from a competitor to a teammate, Antetokounmpo praised Beverley. The star described Beverley as a leader and a winner. He also admitted to not enjoying playing against the guard.
The Greek player talked about the difference between Beverley as a competitor and a teammate. He said:
I don’t think I ever liked playing against him. He’ll push your buttons, but having him on your own team, he makes the game easier for us.Giannis Antetokounmpo added
Despite only playing for 16 minutes in Sunday’s game, Beverley scored five points, and four rebounds with a defensive impact of two steals and one block.
Patrick Beverley has an interesting reputation in the NBA
There are many players in sports known as the menaces of the sport. Some players just like to play dirty and talk trash to their competitors. Beverley is one of them for the NBA. The player has had quite the reputation over the years in the league.
And one point in his career, the player was one of the most hated players in the league . Beverley was suspended for three games in 2022. In November, the guard shoved Deandre Ayton of the Phoenix Suns in an altercation. And multiple times the player has been ejected or fouled out. NBA players do not enjoy playing against Beverley.
In an episode of Podcast P with Paul George, Karl Anthony-Towns talked about Beverley. He had similar thoughts as Antetokounmpo, saying:
