Giannis Antetokounmpo’s availability for the coming FIBA World Cup was doubtful throughout the ongoing summer. And, recently NBA insider, Shams Charania has revealed his status for the Greece National Basketball Team. Giannis Antetokounmpo two weeks ago underwent a cleanup procedure on his knee. Now he is uncertain to suit up for Greece’s FIBA World Cup play this summer.

Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t one of those stars who will run away from the grind and not suit up due to minor injuries. But this time the ‘Greek Freak’ really needs some rest. As this knee injury has been bothering him since the 2020-21 playoffs. During the Milwaukee Bucks’ championship run, he suffered from a hyperextended knee and had to sit out for some games. But, making a successful return he bagged the title and even won the FMVP award.

However, that injury never healed completely. And, it has been bothering Giannis Antetokounmpo during the past years. The superstar had to take some time off the court to heal his knee soreness. He even missed some games during the past two seasons due to lower body injuries, especially due to the knee. This year during Game 1 of the Bucks first-round series against the Miami Heat, Antetokounmpo injured his back. So it’s fair to say that his lower body really needs some time off from the action to heal so he can dominate again.

There are reports which also claim that the recent surgery was very minor and Giannis Antetokounmpo is already back with his feet training. But he might skip the FIBA World Cup to be completely healthy when the league is back in action. This would also be the first time since the 2021 season that he would be starting a run being completely healthy.

Milwaukee Bucks were the best team in the league throughout the regular season. But they were clearly not enough and lacked a lot of aspects once the playoffs were on. But still, they need some more pieces and the front office has tried their level best to form a better roster this Free Agency. They have started well by retaining Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, and Jae Crowder. So they’ll be building around the BIG 3 of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday. Even though the core was held back due to injuries last season it still has the potential to lead the team to win it all.

So far the new signings the Bucks have made are Malik Beasley and Robin Lopez. The locker room energy is going to be good with so many great guys and veterans around the team.

However, the team is still looking to improve its depth at wing and add some solid defensive player to guard the perimeter area when Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t around. The Bucks may start the next season with this roster and then move around some pieces to improve. But right now they don’t have any great offers left in the FA market to go all in for.
