NBA champion Giannis Antetokounmpo hints potential Bucks exit, DOUBTS #1 East team’s ‘intentions’ next season
Giannis Antetokounmpo has been the focal point of Bucks for several years.
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Giannis Antetokounmpo was considered to be the unanimous best player in the league after he led the Milwaukee Bucks to their first championship since 1971, when Kareem Abdul Jabbar was on the team. Since then Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have had disappointing playoff performances as they were eliminated by the Celtics in 2022 in the second round and by the 8th-seeded Miami Heat in the first your in this year’s playoffs.
Bucks have brought back Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez to the team. Bucks’ front office is trying to keep the 2021 Championship core intact to make Giannis stay with them and sign the three-year $173 million deal so that he gets locked in with them for a long term ensuring their continued success.
Giannis doesn’t share the same mindset as the Bucks do as he feels like if he were to sign a contract with the Bucks he would do so only if he is sure that everyone on the team has the same commitment and makes the same sacrifices he does to win another championship. Giannis has said that he will not be signing an extension this year but will assess the situation and sign it next year if he feels that the team helps him to be the best version of himself.
“I would not be the best version of myself if I didn’t know that everybody’s on the same page, everybody’s going for a championship, everybody’s going to sacrifice time away from their family like I do. And if I don’t feel that, I’m not signing,” Antetokounmpo said

How did the Bucks handle this offseason?
The Milwaukee Bucks’ luck changed after they drafted Giannis Antetokounmpo with the 15th pick of the 2013 draft and ever since Giannis took the leap as he won the award for Most Improved Player in 2017 they have been in championship conversations and have been building around Giannis since. They weren’t wrong as Giannis won back-to-back MVPs and a Defensive Player of the Year award and also led the Bucks to their first championship in 50 years.
Now this offseason they have been trying to turn around their season after a disappointing 2022 playoff performance as they lost in the first round of the playoffs. They fired their coach Mike Budenholzer, and signed Adrian Griffin to coach the team as they hope to improve their half-court offense which was one of their most disappointing aspects.
They also resigned Khris Middleton to a three-year $102 million deal and signed Brook Lopez to a two-year $48 million deal to bring them back to the team while also signing Malik Beasley who was a part of the Lakers last season and also signed Brook Lopez’s brother Robin Lopez to the team to solidify their bench depth. It will be interesting to see how well Milwaukee performs next season after all these moves.
