Giannis Antetokounmpo brutally ROASTS Kevin Durant for frequently changing teams and offers to teach him ‘how to carry’ his own team
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant
Giannis Antetokounmpo was stone-cold as he fired open shots towards Kevin Durant. He mercilessly mocked the 2-time NBA champion for joining “superteams” in his pursuit of adding championships to his belt. The Greek Freak went ahead to let Durant know that he can teach him how to lead his own squad.
Durant recently brought his talents to Arizona as he was traded to the Phoenix Suns following a disappointing stint with the Brooklyn Nets. This is a move that hasn’t been received well by several in the NBA world, with the forward enduring an avalanche of criticism. Many feel like Durant jumped the ship yet again in hopes of winning the NBA championship.
Giannis recently appeared on “The Daily Show” when host Hasan Minhaj asked him to send a message to Kevin Durant. The 2-time MVP stared straight at the camera while smirking and said, “You keep joining superteams to win an NBA title. How about we work out together sometime so I can teach you how to carry your own team.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo has stuck with the Milwaukee Bucks throughout his career, molding them into perennial contenders. In fact, he even spearheaded them to NBA gold in 2021, earning Finals MVP honours in the process. Durant has also won two championships and the MVP award in both finals. But he did it while playing for the Golden State Warriors, a team loaded with star talent.
He then joined the Brooklyn Nets, where he starred alongside Kyrie Irving. The following season, James Harden joined them, and critics questioned Durant’s ability to win without a superteam once more. Nevertheless, after a disappointing tenure with the Nets, he was traded to the Phoenix Suns before the trade deadline this season, another franchise stacked with superstars.
Kevin Durant might square off against Giannis Antetokounmpo in mid-March
The Phoenix Suns are scheduled to lock horns with the Milwaukee Bucks on 14th March. This might be Kevin Durant’s first meeting with Giannis Antetokounmpo following the latter’s scathing remarks about the Suns’ star.
True, what the Bucks star said was all in jest since it was on a comedy news show. Nonetheless, it is well known that Durant does not allow insults thrown towards him go unnoticed. Once the forward gets the air of what Giannis said about him, many will expect KD to take it to social media. However, he’ll want his play to more of the talking when the two face each other.
Kevin Durant is yet to make his Suns debut owing to an MCL injury suffered in January. Nevertheless, the next time the Suns play the Bucks, it will be well after the superstar is projected to return from injury.
