Giannis Antetokounmpo had another night to forget against the Indiana Pacers, a team the Milwaukee Bucks has faced 5 times this season already. The latest clash resulted in a 142-130 loss which was the 4th loss that the Bucks have suffered at the hands of Tyrese Haliburton and company.
Lagging behind 4-1, the Bucks saw their man Giannis Antetokounmpo finish with almost a triple-double, with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists. He did not have the best shooting night, something which was also true for his partner in crime, in the form of Damian Lillard.
Speaking after the game, Giannis suggested that while the Bucks were bound to be disappointed, not everything was lost. The Greek Freak was asked about whether the fact they had lost 4 games against the Pacers was something that bothered him.
Giannis responded in the affirmative and started off by explaining how it was something that he thought about constantly.
You think about it. When you go home and sleep and wake up, you think about it. When you go back and work out, you think about it.... When you're about to get freaky at night, you think about it.
He then explained why everything was not lost for the Bucks, who are still 2nd in the East with a 24-10 record.
It’s good because now it gives us time to fix things. We have to get better, everybody. Starting from me, I have to be better, I have to be more aggressive, I have to be way more aggressive like the double team cannot take me away from the game. I try to facilitate as much as I can, but I have to be more aggressive.
Hence, while Giannis is certainly disappointed with how things have gone and wants to change things around, he also believes the loss told the Bucks exactly what they need to do.
Giannis Antetokounmpo outlines the positives for Milwaukee Bucks
The Indiana Pacers are easily one of the most impressive sides in the NBA this season. Finalists of the In-Season tournament, Haliburton, and company have been a menace for teams. The Pacers are tenacious, strong on the break, and always putting their opponents under pressure to force turnovers.
That requires a high level of physicality to counter, which Giannis suggested his team realized as well.
They play harder, they’re being more physical, they’re executing better, they’re making shots, playing together, they’re playing fast, they crash the boards, they’re guarding, they’re loading, they are double teaming, and they’re rebounding the ball. That’s why they were able to win four times this season.
He explained. There is little doubt that the Bucks remain a work in progress, and need to figure out their best starting lineup that works to both Lillard’s and Antetokounmpo’s strengths. Once they do that, they are bound to emerge as an ever more potent outfit.
