“He isn’t smarter than Steph, LeBron or Luka” Gilbert Arena doubles down on his controversial take on Giannis Antetokounmpo
Gilbert Arenas on Giannis Antetokounmpo
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas made a controversial comment to doubt the ‘basketball knowledge’ of Milwaukee Bucks marquee Giannis Antetokounmpo sometime back. His focus seemed to be on how cab the Bucks star improve to complete his prowess. He tried to cover up his previous statement by questioning Giannis’s smartness compared to other NBA players.
Gilbert Arenas said, “Let’s go to the mental side, Is he smarter than Chris Paul? Is he smarter than LeBron James? Is he smarter than [Stephen] Curry, Klay [Thompson], Draymond [Green], Kawhi Leonard, [Nikola] Jokic, Luka [Doncic]? If he doesn’t rank number one in that, that’s what I mean. He was talking in the recent episode of his podcast.
Gilbert Arenas has tried to walk back on his words on many instances before, but he may seem more caught up in what he initially said about the two-time NBA MVP. He thinks Bucks star player Giannis has been hyped too much and doesn’t deserve that much credit. Antetokounmpo has created a legacy of his own and proved his mettle. He will quickly become one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA league.

Giannis’s Greece was eliminated from the EuroBasket tournament
Greece lost to Germany in what can be said as a controversial match in the EuroBasket tournament. In the last five minutes, Greece was trailing by 14, what looked like a tough job for the players to chase. With 4:56 remaining on the clock, Giannis Antetokounmpo slapped Johannes Thiemann across the face when the German forward had a confined defensive rebound.
He was called by the referee for a foul, his second of the game, and was ejected for his unprofessional behavior. Germany won the game after that, with a 107-90 score line. They cruised into the semis, where Spain await them for a chance to play in the finals. Antetokounmpo had thirty-one points, seven rebounds, and eight assists in the quarter-final game. Giannis tried his best but couldn’t take his team over the final hurdle.
