“Steph ain’t f**king with me” – Gilbert Arenas believes he was BETTER than Warriors superstar before suffering career-altering injuries
Gilbert Arenas made some interesting comparisons between himself and Stephen Curry, seemingly ranking himself way above most NBA players.

Stephen Curry vs Gilbert Arenas
Gilbert Arenas’ NBA career got off to a hot start. The former Golden State Warriors, Washington Wizards, and Orlando Magic star was a three-time NBA All-Star, averaged over 20 points, and was named to the All-NBA team thrice before turning 25. However, his career was also marred by off-court incidents and injuries that ultimately cut his playing career short. In a recent episode of the I am Athlete podcast, Arenas spoke about his career and even compared it to Warriors superstar Stephen Curry’s resume.
During the conversation, Arenas was asked “In your mind…where do you rank (all time)”, to which the former NBA star gave a funny look. He was told to rank his all-time skill level and he chose to compare himself with Stephen Curry based on their respective careers through the age of 25.
He said, “If you stop me at 25, Steph ain’t f–king with me.” He then added, “You got to stop him at 25, there’s no three championships, there’s only a one-time All-Star. I’m a three-time All-Star, three-time All-NBA player by the age of 25. So, there’s not a lot of us at that age.”
Arenas also pointed out that during his age-25 season, he had an impressive scoring average of 28.4 points. Let us take a deeper dive into his career and how it stacks up against Stephen Curry’s.
How is “Agent Zero,” Gilbert Arenas’ career trajectory better than that of Stephen Curry?

Arenas spent his first two seasons with the Warriors, where he quickly established himself as a scoring threat off the bench. In his third season, he was named the team’s starting shooting guard and saw his production increase significantly. He averaged 18.3 points per game and was named to his first NBA All-Star team.
After his breakout season with the Warriors, Arenas joined the Washington Wizards in 2003. In Washington, Arenas continued to put up big numbers, averaging over 20 points per game in each of his first three seasons with the team. He was also named to the NBA All-Star team in each of those seasons.
In 2007, Arenas signed a six-year, $111 million contract extension with the Wizards, making him one of the highest-paid players in the league at the time. However, injuries began to take their toll on Arenas, and he played in only 13 games in the 2007-08 season.
Curry’s career may not have gotten off to the hot start that Arenas’ did, but he blossomed into one of the most successful players in NBA history. He has won four championships, one Finals MVP, and two MVP awards, and has set numerous records with his shooting ability. While Arenas may have had a strong case for being the better player at age 25, Curry’s career trajectory and overall impact on the game make him a difficult player to compare to.
