Most people agree that one of the best scorers in NBA history is Kevin Durant. Interestingly, opinions on his standing among the best players in the league have differed. In the NBA, Kevin Durant and Larry Bird exemplify the ideal sweet-shooting forwards. Durant should be in the top 10 instead of Larry Bird, Gilbert Arenas said during a Shannon Sharpe “Nightcap” episode.
At his peak, many regarded the Boston Celtics great as the best small forward of all time. He faced off against players like Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan when he was at his best. Gilbert Arenas didn’t hold back when making his point, regardless of whether it was a hot take or not.
When Sharpe asked Gil to rank KD among the top 10 players during a nightcap segment, Gil immediately stated that he would rank KD as the second-best small forward ever.
Gilbert Arena via the Nightcap podcast said,
The '80s were drugged up. Half of those dudes were trying to hurry up to get to the next fix. I do value his greatness, but KD is a whole other beast. I got him as second best small forward ever.
Larry Bird, who is currently vying for second place with players like Durant and even Kawhi Leonard, was largely regarded as the best forward before LeBron.
It’s interesting to talk about Kevin Durant’s place among the best players in the history of the game. Many continue to question his capacity to manage a group. KD hasn’t experienced another championship after playing with Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, particularly during his terrible time as a Brooklyn Net.

Reposting the video on social media, the reporter went on to explain that many players were left out of this opportunity because they couldn’t handle the pressure of performing in New York. Kevin Durant had the option to sign with the New York Knicks before joining the Brooklyn Nets in 2019.
The former MVP is now responding to a reporter who says he “ducked” the strain of playing in New York City, years after the reporter made the claim.
Later, he mentioned Durant in the comments, pointing out that he might have entered the GOAT debate had he been a Knick. Kevin Durant responded to the message. He said,
I made my own GOAT list. Guess who's out top? Enjoy your list and garden bro, u ain't gotta stage me every time.
The Phoenix Suns star was being attacked by fans in the comments section, requesting that he should drop his ranking off the top five players. Durant chose to respond in a petty way, putting his name in writing five times in it.
Regarding his decision to not sign with the Knicks, JJ Redick questioned Durant during their conversation on the “Old Man and The Three” podcast. In response, he stated that he had no desire to save a team that had endured so much hardship.
