Gilbert “Agent Zero” Arenas is an NBA Legend known for exceptional scoring from any part of the court and being one of the best clutch players in NBA history. Recently, the player who has been selected as an All-Star three times found himself embroiled in a controversy due to a statement he made in April, where he claimed to be superior to Stephen Curry when both players were 25 years old.

Arenas was trolled on the internet due to this statement and was called old and delusional, so he made a statement on vladTV aiming to do so. “With me, you have to understand what I’m actually saying, and I don’t think people actually listen to– they’re like, ‘oh, that was a bad team.’ Did you listen to the actual take?” Arenas said.

He went on to add, “I’m using everything, I’m researching it to make it a certain way and then you understand it, so I got hurt at 25. I don’t have really a resume after that, so my resume is by 25, these players couldn’t f*ck with me. As a career, I’m not in these f***ing categories, right? I can’t compete with the God, you know. But before the God became a God…”

Gilbert said he was specifically talking about careers till the age of 25 because, at the end of that season, he was injured at the end of the season due to Gerald Wallace falling on his leg, which resulted in a torn MCL.

Gilbert Arenas made a bold claim on the I AM ATHLETE Podcast in April. He said that he would easily beat Stephen Curry in a game if they were both 25 years old. Arenas, who was known for his scoring prowess, did not seem to respect Curry’s skills or accomplishments.

So if you stop me at 25, Steph ain’t hanging with me,” Arenas said. “You’ve got to stop it at 25. At 25, there are no three championships. There’s only a one-time All-Star. I’m a three-time All-Star and a three-time All-NBA player by the age of 25.

Arenas had some impressive numbers and honors to back up his statement. He was a 3-time All-Star, 3-time All NBA guard and scored 28.4 points per game in the 2006-07 season when he was 25 years old. Curry, on the other hand, was just starting to make his mark in the league at that age. He earned his first All-Star selection and averaged 24 points per game in the 2013-14 season. Based on these stats, Arenas might have a point if we only look at age 25.
