“Don’t really believe you out there shooting bombs through people’s houses” Gilbert Arenas speaks on NBA players turning to music as a side hustle

Gilbert Arenas has been very socially active discussing stories pertaining to the league and its surroundings. He for one has had a lot of experiences in the league during his decade long career. Gil had the potential of becoming a offensive assassin but injuries put a halt to his journey to stardom.

Recently the player has been revealing a lot of information on the league and giving out some realistic opinions. The former Washington Wizards point guard himself had been known for his wild antics which includes pointing a gun point blank at his teammate. Scary but true, however, Arenas has found himself in people’s good books again.

Coming back to the league itself, not every player is satisfied with their careers in the league as they feel the need to push further with success. We have seen several athletes in recent times excel with their content on social media or even test their luck in other sports.

Lately, the influence of rap music has been seeping into style with NBA athletes and just the overall culture around them. In fact, such music has been very influential since the 90s. NBA players themselves have tried starting careers being rappers but only a few have seen success.

Gilbert Arenas highlighted this trend with an opinion saying, “When it comes to the NBA rappers rapping about those type of things, yeah, there’s a code of conduct because that’s not the brand. When you listen to Dame Dolla, it’s you know, it’s clean. When Kobe made his his rap, when Shaq did his, exactly. You know, that’s what you expect from NBA players.”

He continued, “When I listen to some of these kids rap, It’s art. I don’t really believe you out there shooting bombs through people’s houses. I’ve never seen that on the news.” Likewise, players like Allen Iverson, Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant have all been recognised for their rap features. AI career was quickly shut off due to what the NBA considered “controversial lyrics” but Shaq on the other hand sold platinum records which held “codes of conduct.”
