“He’s a f**king drunk man…a flop show” Gilbert Arenas throws former teammate Kwame Brown under the bus by calling him ‘cancer’
Gilbert Arenas on Kwame Brown
Former Washington Wizard’s Star point Guard Gilbert Arenas gave his brutally honest opinion on his former teammate Kwame Brown, for his below-par performances back in the day.
Gilbert Arenas was on the VLAD TV for an interview, where he talked about the video he posted on the IG, targeting his former teammate Kwame Brown. The video was about a reverse draft to see who gets stuck with Kwame brown, though as a skit, that looked like an actual draft. Arenas explained the situation and in that explanation too he took jibes at “Brown” for being a bad NBA player. Unfortunately for big man Kwame though, the stats do put him in some bad light and Gilbert – couldn’t bear with him in his Wizards team.
Two had a very famous feud between each other and Gilbert would mock Kwame even after he retires from the league. In the latest video posted, Gilbert called Kwame “cancer” as teams would perform better as soon as he left them.
Gilbert Arenas and Kwame Brown never had good vibes
Kwame Brown was no 1 pick for the 2001 NBA draft, and it was rumored that he told then-coach – Doug Collins, “If you draft me, you’ll never regret it.” The team had some good players at the guard’s position – including Michael Jordan and Tyron Lue. So they trusted near-7 footer Kwame and selected him as 1st overall pick of 2001, but it proved to be not so fruitful for the team, and ironically Kwame decided to leave the team after completing his rookie contract.
Gilbert Arenas, who was selected as the 31st overall pick in the same NBA Draft, was his teammate for 2 seasons. But the Guard-Center combination never worked well, between them and Arenas blamed Kwame for that. Sadly for Kwame though, his poor show in all of his next teams – supported Gilbert’s claim.
Kwame played in 7 different teams in his 13-year career – and despite the pick position in the draft, he was never a starter for any of those teams.
In the latest interview, accepting the fact that he was never on good terms with Kwame, the Wizard’s star guard said talked about his “Alcoholic” issues. H went on the records and said,”That’s the reason that’s the reason he played 13 years but only made 66 million. Because they always under-cutted him, because they had the alcoholic issue with him. Dude, just stop blaming everybody else, you didn’t work out, you didn’t train on your game, you didn’t. If I had a double-double well you didn’t have a double-double in rebounds. five (points) six (rebounds) and zero (assists), that were your stats”
Former 3-time all-star Arenas mentioned that the player in that era and with 1st overall pick position would make around 325 million as average salary. And Kwame being so poor on the court had to take pay cuts to play in the league.
While Arenas didn’t stop there, and called Kwame “Cancer” within the team, as soon as he is removed from the team, the team began to play better. Statistically, that had a point as the Lakers won the 2009 Championship following Brown’s departure, and the Warriors began to ascend in their performances after Kwame left them.
They famously had an online rant this calendar year only, where Kwame targeted LeBron James for checking the stats sheet. Brown wrote, “Kobe wouldn’t do that”. Which was heavily trolled by Arenas as he said, “Ur right #kobe would have NEVER looked at the stat sheet because he KNEW yo ass had 0”
Kwame Brown had career stats, 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist – which really are very discouraging for a top pick NBA player. Also, he made 4 playoff appearances in 13 seasons played. And there his performances are slightly above his career averages. He was regularly targeted by sports analysts for his poor show on the court.
