Grizzlies star Ja Morant claps back at Klay Thompson for calling out ‘brother’ JJJ after winning his 4th NBA Title

Klay Thompson reignites beef with Jaren Jackson Jr and Ja Morant

The Warriors are taking down each and every one of their critics on their list as Klay Thompson could not help but rub it in the face of Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr of the Grizzlies. Ja Morant had quite a season, both on and off court, filled with drama and slam dunks. However, The Most Improved player of the season could do nothing but watch from the stands, as Golden State Warriors shattered Memphis’s Grizzlies postseason hopes, burying the series for good with a 110-96 victory in Game 6 in mid May.

About a month down the line, the Warriors have stepped up and claimed what is theirs, their opponents have bowed down, and the haters are nowhere to be seen. Golden State Warriors clinch their 4th NBA Title in 8 seasons and it’s payback time for the Warriors.

Shooting over double-teams from the logo, crossing people over and shooting beyond half court, step backs under pressure, runners off one leg from 35 feet, simply the greatest display of shooting we’ve ever seen! In the end, Curry, once again, led the way for Golden State on the offensive end. He finished the series-clinching win with a team-high 34 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, adding yet another chapter to his already storied career.

The rest of the Warriors offered Curry plenty of help as Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson all scored in double figures as well. On the other end, the Celtics were led by Jaylen Brown, who did all he could with 34 points, seven rebounds and three assists, but unfortunately for Boston fans, it wasn’t enough to extend their season one more game.

Klay Thompson Makes strong Return from the injury

There was a lot of speculation about where Klay Thompson and Golden State will be at the end of this NBA season, after suffering their worst couple of years in recent history. The horrific end to the 2019 NBA Finals, which saw Klay suffering a torn ACL, coupled with 2 of their worst seasons in recent history, some people were assuming the dynasty had died, well, seems like it won’t so soon. After having gone through so much, Golden State have reinstated their position back among the elite, with Stephen Curry as their ‘Achilles’ .

“You don’t wanna see us next year”, These were Stephen Curry’s words on May 21st, 2021 after a disappointing loss to the Grizzlies in the Play-In Tournament. They took note of everyone laughing at them and promised there will be revenge, and there it is, redemption for the Warriors and Klay, who immediately won a ring coming back from his injury. He was not shy to ruffle feathers and call out their haters, Klay took a shot at the Memphis’s Jaren Jackson Jr ,for tweeting an old Warriors’ motto, “Strength in numbers”. During his postgame interview, Thompson recalled that tweet from Jackson that shaded the Warriors after beating them during the regular season.

“Strength in numbers is alive and well. There was this one player on the Grizzlies who tweeted ‘Strength in numbers’ after they beat us in the regular season, and it pissed me off so much. I can’t wait to retweet that thing. Freakin’ bum. I had to watch that. I’m like, ‘This freakin’ clown.’ Sorry, that memory just popped up. Gonna mock us? You ain’t ever been there before. We’ve been there before, we know what it takes. So to be here again, hold that.”

Klay was pumped up and he may be somewhat right. Before he got injured, Klay made it into 5 straight NBA Finals, winning 3 of them while injuring himself during the 5th one. Since then Warriors were plagued with several injuries, as they suffered for 2 years, being mocked and trolled for being a shadow of their former selves. People keep forgetting the lesson that ‘Warriors’ is their name, a part of who they are, they don’t give up. They forget who scary a healthy Warriors team can be, there is a reason that it’s called a ‘Warriors Dynasty’, this what Klay was trying to imply to these young guns from Memphis

Now, if you expected Ja Morant to silently accept the disrespect, you clearly don’t know the guy. The Grizzlies are the young, hungry, upstart team of the Western Conference, while the Warriors will enter next season as the established dynasty trying to hold onto its title. A rivalry between the young guns and veteran ballers may be brewing in the west soon. After a Grizzlies reporter said that Jackson lives rent free in Klay’s mind, Ja Morant agreed with that notion, going further and saying that the big man has a lot of property there.

Warriors locking horns against the Grizzlies felt like an emotional rollercoaster in itself, with trash talk flying in the air and shots being fired off court on social media. At one point during the Game 5 blowout, Morant imitated Steph’s 1-2-3-4 finger count he often does after getting fouled on a successful 3-point attempt, Stever Kerr went off on Dillon Brooks, Ja deleted his ‘Broke the code tweet’, Steph and Draymond Green jammed to ‘Whoop that trick’ before being whooped. Nevertheless Golden State had the ‘last laugh’ as a viral video clip of Ja Morant with a crying filter emerged.

It could be the makings of a new rivalry in the West. The Warriors and Grizzlies have played competitive regular-season games in recent years and had a tight, intense second-round playoff battle this year. Its back to the drawing board for Memphis as they currently sit on a Gold-mine of talent , with Ja Morant, Dillon Brooks and Desmond Bane, they might be a force to reckon with next year. As for Warriors, their ‘Poole Party’ is going to go all summer long, beware NBA, the Warriors are back.
