Guillermo Rodriguez shares a hysterical moment with Gary Payton II
NBA Finals bring with them, a wave of seriousness and competitiveness, as Gary Payton II was expecting. However, we had Guillermo Rodriguez, the comedic correspondent from Jimmy Kimmel Live, to lighten the mood. Dispersing the tense air of the approaching Finals, Guillermo had a hilarious question for Gary Payton II during his press interaction. The NBA Finals are set, with the Golden State Warriors seeking their seventh NBA championship and the Boston Celtics looking for their 18th, which would pull them ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers for the most all time, as the teams lock horns, starting 2nd June.
The two Champions of the their respective conferences have had a very different season, with respect to each other. Stephen Curry led Golden State Warriors have obliterated every opponent in their path, from the very beginning of the season, to fight for the crown. The Warriors have rallied behind their King in the West, Stephen Curry, and laid waste to everyone, conquering the Western Conference.
Whereas, Jayson Tatum has led a once dysfunctional Boston Celtics, to rise from their ruins and stun their opposition with conviction. Boston started the season very poorly, but have grown exponentially good, specially in terms of defending on the court. Tatum powered the Celtics through two back-to-back Game 7 showdown victories, as underdogs against Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks, earning the Eastern Conference Title.

Guillermo made his annual appearance at the media day ahead of the NBA Finals, One of the most popular characters on the talk-show Jimmy Kimmel live. The Mexican native has gained immense popularity over the years, having one of the most inspiring stories including a humorous relationships with Lebron James himself. He has gone from being a parking lot security guard to interviewing celebrities at the Oscars, over the years Guillermo has become a prominent personality during the NBA Finals, interviewing players for fun.
One such moment of Guillermo’s hilarious moments occurred when Gary Payton II had his routine his press interaction ahead of tomorrow’s Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics. Guillermo went up to Gary Payton II and asked him whether he liked Latina women, a woman or girl of Latin American origin or descent. Payton II hilariously responded that he doesn’t discriminate, and then burst out laughing at the hilarious nature of the question.
Gary Payton II, was ecstatic on seeing the Mexican, he said “This is the guy that I’ve been wanting to see! How you doing man?”
Guillermo was just as enthralled to be there , he replied “I’m good. Let me ask you. Is it fun to wear shorts to work?”
Gary Payton II, let out a smile , saying “Absolutely! Do you wear shorts to work?”
Guillermo had his reply and a hysterical question for GPII, “They would fire me if I wore shorts… Are you into Latinas?”
Gary Payton II was very amused and replied, “I don’t discriminate.”
Payton was clearly anticipating seeing Guillermo at the press interaction, and he was not disappointed with how the interaction went. While he tried to keep a straight face, for the most part, even GP II couldn’t keep it together after talking to Guillermo for a short while, which really helped keep a light atmosphere prior to the grand NBA Finals.
For the Warriors, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green remain the mainstay pieces as Andrew Wiggins enjoys a breakout postseason. The Celtics, meanwhile, are leaning on the outstanding performance of Jayson Tatum and one of the best supporting casts in basketball featuring Jaylen Brown. The Warriors have been excellent in the Chase Center so far this year, and they’d undoubtedly like to capitalize on what is a clear advantage heading into the NBA Finals. As for Guillermo, we hope he continues asking silly and hilarious questions to NBA players during these press interactions.
