Gabe Vincent’s basketball career has been a complete rollercoaster ride. He’s now a star for the Miami Heat team. He recently recorded a career-high performance of his in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics. As he led the way for the Jimmy Butler-led Miami Heat to record a dub at 128-102 by dropping 29 points in the match-up.
But Gabe Vincent wasn’t always the same guy and his journey has been full of struggles. After hooping out for the UC Santa Barbara Team from 2014-to-2018 during his college days he made his way to the NBA draft. But unfortunately, he went undrafted and was later offered an exhibit-10 contract by the Sacramento Kings. And, that’s not the start of his real journey as Gabe Vincent was soon waived by the Kings.
But Gabe Vincent didn’t give up on his dreams anytime soon and went on to prove himself in the G-League after skipping the Summer League. And, just in a year he was getting promoted to the starting lineup and averaging 23.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists on 47/41/90 shooting splits for the Stockton Kings. On January 8, 2020, the Miami Heat signed Gabe Vincent to a two-way contract and he’s journey in the league begin.
As months later he even won the MIP award in the G-League. And, now he’s playing a very important role in the Miami Heat’s post-season run this year. Recently, Gabe Vincent sat 1-on-1 with senior NBA insider Shams Charania and discussed his rollercoaster journey which now has led him to the starting five for the Miami Heat.
Reflecting on his journey, Gabe Vincent quoted: “I mean going in I knew it would be a struggle, it would be a hurdle. I had everything against me. Obviously, being undrafted… So initially I thought be two years in the G-League and just give it right around and grab my way up. Right when I almost lost hope in the league, I got a call from my agent… That we got this team and Miami. And, called Miami back immediately.”

Gabe Vincent on his upcoming Free Agency
In the same interview with Shams Charania, Gabe Vincent also talked about his Free Agency. As soon he’ll be a Unrestricted Free Agent who’ll want a well-deserved bag. And, talking about it Gabe Vincent quoted: “First of all the playoffs are at the focus. But I’ll be lying if I said it’s not on my mind, naturally it would be on everybody’s mind… We’ll try to be in the best option and best opportunity possible. It may look like a different thing depending upon circumstances but will just take one thing at a time and get there.”
The Miami Heat would surely want to retain Gabe Vincent and land him a bag. He hasn’t disappointed them and has been very handy whenever their primary ball-handler wasn’t available.
Also, he’s a talented go-to guy and he proved his worth in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals and now the Heat squad is just one win away from making it to the 2023 NBA Finals which will also increase Gabe Vincent’s value. But in the end, the league’s a business, and the future of any player can’t be predicted.
