LeBron James is only 36 points away from passing Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s all-time scoring record. After scoring 27 against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday, the Chosen One needs only 36 points to get past Kareem. Jason Kidd, former Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach had the highest praise for the NBA superstar. Despite the debate about whether James was a shooter, Kidd said that James him breaking the all-time scoring record is a testament to his dedication and longevity.

When asked about the 19 x All-Star quest to beat the record, the Mavericks’ head coach said that LeBron is not a sharpshooter but a playmaker. “I think it’s great when you talk about what LeBron’s about to do. He didn’t come in as a shooter. He came in as a pass-first, set-the-table guy. And so I think it gives those guys who have the total package in the sense of playmaking, being able to score, and not having to be a flat-out shooter,” Kidd said

He also added that 4 x league’s MVPs has set an example for future generations when it comes to taking care of their body. “It also goes with longevity and health,” Kidd said. “It goes with Being able to take care of your body and understand what it means to be a pro and not being afraid to spend money on his body to make sure that he can keep on playing for 50 years,” he added. J. Kidd has the highest regard for the Lakers star and collaborated closely when Kidd worked as an assistant coach for the Lakers.

LeBron James moves within 36 points of Kareem’s All-Time scoring record

James is on the verge of passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, possibly as soon as this weekend. He’ll accomplish it in the most bizarre way imaginable by breaking records with one of his highest-scoring seasons. King is doing that too in the waning years of his illustrious career.

This is all not normal. In his 20th season of playing in the NBA, a 38-year-old shouldn’t be averaging 30 points per game and challenging for the single-season scoring crown. This is never done. At this late in his career, Jason Kidd transformed from a full-court force to a facilitator at a standstill. Tim Duncan went from being the franchise’s pivotal player to the Spurs’ fifth option. The fact that LeBron persisted long enough to catch Kareem is not his miracle. It’s that when he does, LeBron will still be in complete control and able to score whenever he wants.
