The Toronto Raptors are still searching for a new head coach, and they could have a special candidate in mind. The Raptors have expressed interest in JJ Redick, a former NBA player and current ESPN analyst, as a prospective head coach, according to Michael Grange of Sportsnet.

Following the firing of Nick Nurse after the 2022–23 season due to poor results, the Raptors are in need of a new head coach. The team lost to the Chicago Bulls in the play-in tournament, resulting in a final record of.500 and elimination from the playoffs. For the last ten years, Nurse had been a part of the Toronto organisation, the last five of those as head coach.

In his career, Redick played for six different teams and was selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. He never achieved the tag of a superstar, but he was well-known for his three-point shooting ability and dependable defence. In the year 2021, he retired from the NBA.

The 38-year-old basketball analyst has gained recognition in recent years, in part because of his well-liked podcast, “The Old Man and the Three,” where he conducts conversations with some of the league’s best players. Given that the Raptors are apparently exploring other possibilities like Becky Hammon, Kenny Atkinson, and Charles Lee, There’s no guarantee Redick will earn the Raptors job.

NBA Twitter is not convinced about JJ Redick becoming a head coach, despite the fact that it may be exciting to some. Many users voice their concerns regarding Redick’s coaching abilities.

“I think he should stay on first take” one user tweeted. “Can’t imagine JJ wanting to do this currently. I feel like he’s thriving in the media game”

The Raptors are clearly leaving their options open in their quest for a new head coach, despite some social media users’ doubts. Redick’s future at the position is uncertain, but the Raptors’ willingness to consider unconventional possibilities can be shown in their consideration of Redick.
