“Need this champ in my team” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra’s stunned reaction to Ja Morant’s game-winner in Game 5 vs Timberwolves goes viral

Miami Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra was insanely happy and satisfied with his team’s performance in the first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks. Having clinched the top seed in the East after the end of the regular season, Jimmy Butler and Co. Displayed just why they belonged at this very top. However, as the veteran coach was in his live postgame interview, he could help but watch the live action from JA Morant.

The 22-year-old guard was head-locked in a tough game against the Timberwolves with the first-round series being tied at 2-2. With the Minnesota Timberwolves leading majority of the night, it wasn’t until Morant took matters in his own hand to register a win and take the lead in the particular series. Like everyone else, Spoelstra too believed the away side to once again take the lead 3-2 after Game 5. But….

Erik Spoelstra left stunned after Ja Morant’s clutch performance in Game 5

During his postgame presser after they knocked out the Atlanta Hawks, however, Coach Spoelstra was informed that the Grizzlies won via a last-second layup from Morant. Much like the rest of the NBA, the Heat tactician couldn’t believe it.

While the Memphis Grizzlies struggled against the Karl Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards led Timberwolves in Game 5, they showed them why they are the no. 2 seed in the West.

They simply wanted it more and used that hunger to fuel them. Timberwolves Minnesota was up by 13 with nine minutes to go in the fourth quarter, but Ja Morant was unstoppable and scored 18 of his 30 in the period–including the team’s final 13 points.

That being said, the Grizzlies, Ja Morant are just one-win away from securing their berth in the second-round, where they could potentially lock horns against the Golden State Warriors. But all is not done, in this series, the second seed team in the West still have to secure a win to progress. Will we witness Ja Morant’s excellence in Game 6 as well? Or will we see the tables turning one more time? Remains to be seen.
