The Toronto rapper wore Cole’s number 15 jersey while sitting courtside. The Honey Badgers were able to maintain their dominance throughout the game, winning 84-69 over the Shooting Stars.
J. Cole’s basketball career over the years
Jermaine Lamarr Cole, better known by his professional name as J Cole, has come out about his love of basketball as a kid. J Cole was a Division I men’s basketball walk-on who never turned up after pursuing a career in music. Cole’s lyrics and those who observed his transformation into one of the rap world’s most enjoyable forces were forever changed by his two years of varsity high school basketball and a period practicing with his college’s women’s team. J. Cole signed a deal with Rwanda’s Patriots BBC to play in the inaugural Basketball Africa League last year in which during the season, the rapper was scheduled to appear in three to six games for the African team.

J. Cole departed from Rwanda due to a “family obligation” last year and came back once again this year to make an appearance for his CEBL debut with the Scarborough Shooting Stars. Cole joined with the Shooting Stars in May after he was apparently put in touch with the correct individuals to test out for the squad by Drake’s associate who co-owns the Shooting stars. “As far as the talent that he has, he’s played this game at a professional level in Africa, so, this is his second stint. It’s gonna be fun and something that is great for the city of Scarborough and Toronto.” said the former NBA player and Vice President of Shooting Stars, Jamaal Magloire.

Drake made a special appearance during Cole’s debut game inside the Pan Am Sports Centre, where he was eagerly watching the game from his courtside seat.
Cole’s No. 15 jersey was also worn by the platinum recording artist and prominent Raptors ambassador. Cole made his fourth appearance after signing a contract with the Canadian Elite Basketball League on May. In 23 minutes of action, the 37-year-old rapper had a total of six points where his team lost 84-69 to the Honey Badgers.
