Felony up to 5 years in prison and $10000 fine!
According to the report, Montrezl Harrell was stopped by a Kentucky state trooper near Richmond at 10 a.m. on May 12 after allegedly following the vehicle in front of him too closely. Officers inspected Harrell’s rented car and discovered three pounds of marijuana in vacuum-sealed packages in a backpack in the back seat, according to police.
Montrezl Harrell was charged with trafficking less than 5 pounds of marijuana, which is a Class D felony punishable by one to five years in jail and a fine of $1,000 to $10,000 for a first-time offender. The timing of this scandal is unfortunate for the player, who joined the Hornets at the trade deadline after spending half of the season with the Washington Wizards because, in addition to the legal repercussions, no team will want to sign him after the NBA Finals, when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
