The prosecutors of the case allege that Kysre was asleep when Porter got into the room and started assaulting her. He kept assaulting her until she ran out of the room, covered in blood. Assistant District Attorney of Manhattan, Mirah Curzer, also said that Porter has a history of abusing Kysre, including an incident where he rammed his car into hers.
Kysre accused Porter of punching her with a closed fist and squeezing her neck with heavy pressure. She was taken to NYU Langone Medical Center, where it was revealed that she had suffered a fractured neck vertebrae. Porter was bailed out of jail after paying a bail of $75,000. He has been told to stay away from Kysre by the court.
What consequences could Kevin Porter Jr. face, and what is his history of violence?

Kevin Porter Jr. has been involved in multiple incidents of violence throughout his career. KPJ had previously rammed into his girlfriendβs car. He was also charged with mishandling a firearm while he was a part of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2020. He was traded away from Cleveland after he got angry about the small issue of his locker room being shifted with the young players in the team.
If he is found guilty on both felony counts he is charged with, it could essentially mean the end of his career. He just signed a hefty $63.4 million contract that would pay him over $15 million next season. If the charges are found to be true, he could face serious jail time, which could affect his basketball career heavily. The Rockets are yet to waive him, but if convicted, they are only liable for $16 million of the total contract.
