NBA games are a huge event across the United States of America. The playoff games are even more so. Naturally, many celebrities who share their love for the game like the general public are seen making their appearance for these games. While the recent games saw high-profile celebrities like Jack Nicholson and Zendaya, the New York Knicks had Howard Stern rooting for them.

Howard Stern is a popular American radio and television personality, comedian, and author. He is the host of ‘The Howard Stern Show’ which began airing way back in 1985. While Stern was indeed present at Madison Square Garden, he came out of the game a little unimpressed. However, his disappointment wasn’t due to the result of the game but because of how players treated him.

According to the radio host, Knicks players reportedly did not greet or even approach him. The only people to do that were the match officials. Stern then ranted about his experience on his show.

Stern specifically singled out Black players and said he was ignored because he was “a White guy.” “I’ll be sitting next to Tracy Morgan or Chris Rock. You know, they seat you where they seat you. And a lot of times when I’m there, I’m next to Tracy Morgan, who is so funny. And he’s sitting there and, like, a couple of the players will come over,” Stern said about his experience in a video shared by NBACentral Twitter account.

“The Black players won’t come over and say hello to me, but they go over to Spike Lee. I grew up in a Black neighborhood, you know what I mean?,” he said, insinuating the Black New York Knicks were being racist against him for being White.

The New York Knicks are currently playing the Miami Heat in the Western Conference Semi-Finals. Tied at 1-1, the Knicks have been very impressive this season. They totally dominated the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first-round series as they won 4-1. Even against Miami, after losing Game 1, the Knicks quickly bounced back in Game 2 to show that they won’t be going down so easily.

Led by Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle the NY has been exceptional this season. They walked into the post-season clinching the fifth seed in the East. New York also has an impressive away game record standing at 24-17 in the regular season. As they head south to play the Heat at home in Games 3 and 4, they would fancy their chances for a potential series lead. Moreover, with Jimmy Butler having an issue with his ankle, the Knicks can hope to make the most out of the star player’s absence. Game 3 between these two teams will be played on May 6th.
