Former NBA and Los Angeles Lakers star player Shaquille O’Neal was in Abu Dhabi for the NBA pre-season games between the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks. There he revealed an incident where he was almost arrested by one of the queen’s guards on his visit to London. However, he also mentioned that his royal highness Prince Charles saved him from getting arrested. Shaq was talking in an interview with Rich Jones of the ‘Mirror Sport.’
Shaquille O’Neal said, “I went to London, and I almost got arrested. Prince Charles had to save me. Because they have really good discipline.” He added, “I kind of bumped one by accident and they came and detained me. I told them, ‘look, I am the David Beckham of America! Shaq attempted to jump the Queen’s guards after a member of his team bet he couldn’t do it.
Shaquille O’Neal quoted, “That’s what I told them, I said, ‘look, I’m the David Beckham of America, tell Prince Charles I meant no disrespect and somebody came in and said, ‘OK, don’t let it happen again’, and I was able to go. I don’t know if Prince Charles got the word, but that’s a true story.” This attempt to brush the law would have landed Shaq in the soup if the Prince didn’t interfere.
