The Unlikely Road to Reconciliation: NBA Legends Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley

“I got ego too!” Charles Barkley REIGNITES age-old feud with Michael Jordan by calling him a ‘jerk’

Charles Barkley’s recent interview on 60 Minutes brought out old tensions with Michael Jordan. Although they were previously good friends, Jordan and Barkley haven’t spoken in years because of a comment Barkley made regarding Jordan’s time as the Charlotte Hornets’ owner.

During the interview, Barkley expressed his regret over the situation and acknowledged that his comment had offended Jordan. “What I said, I think he don’t have enough people around him that gonna tell him ‘No,'” said Barkley. “And he got really offended and we haven’t spoken. But John, I’m gonna do my job. Because I have zero credibility if I criticize other people in the same boat and not criticize my best friend.”

When asked if he ever thinks about repairing the friendship, Barkley admitted that he too has an ego and that both he and Jordan need to put their pride aside in order to move forward. “He’s got my number,” said Barkley, who refuses to be the first to apologize.

“I got an ego too, John,” said Barkley. “You can’t be great at something…that doesn’t give you the right to be a jerk.”

While the chances of a reconciliation between Jordan and Barkley seem unlikely given their history and respective egos, Barkley has made it clear that he wishes things could be different.

“I think probably, me and Michael [Jordan] were best friends, that’s probably the most prominent thing,” Barkley said in a previous interview. “Michael Jordan, losing his friendship was probably the most prominent thing that’s happened to me. But I was being honest about what I thought. I said, ‘Listen, the toughest thing about Michael, he’s got to put better people around him.’ Because the toughest thing, when you’re famous, they’re on your private jet, you’re buying all the drinks, you’re buying all the dinners. Very few people are gonna be honest with you.”

Despite Barkley’s regrets and willingness to repair the friendship, it remains to be seen if Jordan will be willing to do the same. Jordan is known for holding grudges and it seems unlikely that he would be willing to put his own ego aside in order to mend the relationship.

However, if Jordan and Barkley were to reconcile, it could be a great moment for the NBA and basketball fans around the world. The two were once close friends and their on-court battles were legendary. A reunion between the two could bring back memories of their playing days and provide fans with a glimpse into the personal lives of two of the greatest basketball players of all time.

Only time will tell if Jordan and Barkley will be able to put their differences aside and reconcile. But one thing is for sure, their feud is one of the most talked-about in sports history and fans will continue to follow the story closely in the hopes of a happy ending.
