“I had a NASTY HUNGER” – Paul George picks who wins 1v1 between PG13 and PG24
Paul George reflects on his growth as a player and the impact of his injuries on the Clippers' playoff hopes

Paul George, star for the Los Angeles Clippers, recently discussed his growth as a player on his podcast, “Podcast P with Paul George.” In the podcast, George compared his current PG-13 status with his earlier PG-24 league days. George argued that PG-13 is a more well-rounded athlete with offensive talent, but PG-24 was a guy who was committed to destroying his opponents on both ends of the floor and had remarkable endurance.
George’s growth as a player has been evident throughout his career. In his early years as PG-24, George was a talented player who showed promise but lacked consistency. His shooting percentages never went above the low 40s, and he only averaged 4.1 assists per game.
However, George’s potential was evident, and he quickly became a very good player in the league, averaging 17.4 points per game in just his third season and jumping up to 21.7 in his final year as PG-24.
Since that time, George has worked to improve his abilities as a player overall. In each of his last three seasons as a PG-13, he has averaged over five assists per game and his shooting percentages have improved, sticking closer to the mid 40s. The success of the Clippers has depended on George’s development as a player, but lately, the team has struggled greatly without him on the floor.
During the podcast, Paul George also addressed the question of who would win in a one-on-one matchup between PG-13 and PG-24. George acknowledged that it would be a “good a** clash,” but ultimately he believed that he as PG-13 would come out on top.
“I had a NASTY HUNGER…PG-24 just wanted to destroy you on both ends and had the endurance…Now, going against that version, I’m way more gifted offensively than I was PG-24.”

Paul George’s Injury Woes Have Hindered Clippers’ Success in the Playoffs

Paul George has improved as a player, but maintaining his health has been his hardest difficulty. George has played 56 regular-season games or fewer in each of his four seasons with the Clippers, which has had a big impact on the team’s playoff success. The Clippers’ inability to get past the first round of the NBA playoffs for the past couple of years has been mostly attributed to George’s absence.
In the 2020 playoffs, George’s injury struggles were on full display. He struggled with his shot, shooting just 39.8% from the field, and his absence in the clutch moments was felt by the team. The Clippers ultimately lost in the second round of the playoffs, and George received criticism for his lackluster performance.
Despite the criticism, George has remained focused on improving his game and staying healthy. He has been working hard in the offseason to get in the best shape of his life and is determined to help lead the Clippers to success in the playoffs this year.
