“I have been asleep on these brothers” – Analyst admits SERIOUS WORRIES for Warriors against De’Aaron Fox and Co. in NBA playoff round 1
Stephen A. Smith praises Kings guard De'Aaron Fox and feels the Warriors have no answer to his offensive brilliance
De'Aaron Fox
Stephen A. Smith claims that the Golden State Warriors have a cause for concern in terms of stopping De’Aaron Fox as he scored 38 points in a dominating win for the Sacramento Kings. The Kings picked up a 126-123 win with Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox combining for the most points for a duo on their playoff debut with 70 points.
“I looked at Sacramento last night and I was like this, “Oh my lord.’ I have been asleep on these brothers,” said Stephen A. The Sacramento Kings came into the series against Golden State as underdogs and surprised the NBA world by handing Golden State their first game one first-round loss since 2013. Stephen A. Smith feels that the Warriors cannot get past the Kings without finding an answer for Fox.
“I’m very worried about the Golden State Warriors… De’Aaron Fox is special and I’m talking potentially Ja Morant kind of special. He’s unguardable. They cannot guard him,” Fox scored 13 points in the fourth quarter while guarding Stephen Curry and closed out the game for the Sacramento Kings. The Kings host the Warriors again tonight with a chance to take a commanding 2-0 lead over the defending champions.
De’Aaron Fox breaks NBA record on his playoff debut with the Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings guard scored the joint second-most points for any player on their playoff debut with 38. Fox has been on the Kings since 2017 in a long road to the playoffs. De’Aaron Fox made his all-star debut this season and led the Kings to their first playoff appearance in over a decade as the #2 seed in the Western Conference.
The Sacramento Kings did not have to rely completely on Fox with key contributions from Malik Monk and Domantas Sabonis on both ends of the floor. Sabonis grabbed 16 rebounds as the Kings outrebounded the Warriors 50-41 on the night. Malik Monk also made his playoff debut alongside Kentucky teammate Fox and scored 32 points of his own.
The Sacramento Kings will be wary of the fact that their current coach was on the Golden State Warriors prior and is aware of getting tactically exposed by Steve Kerr. However, in Game 1, it was all Mike Brown’s brilliance as he coached the Kings to a solid offensive display involving isolation plays and pick-and-roll actions for their dynamic guards.
