When asked about possibly breaking Kareem’s all-time scoring record, LeBron said scoring that many points were never his goal. “I don’t know. I don’t know because I have not set out to do that. It wasn’t, like, a goal of mine when I entered the league,” James said. “Making the All-Star team, being Rookie of the Year, being First-Team All-NBA, First-Team All-Defense. Winning a championship, for sure, and being an MVP of the league. The scoring record was never ever even thought of in my head,” he added.

The last time the Lakers and the Hawks met, it was a bad night for the Hawks in the paint area. The Hawks played without their shot blocker and their best defender in the paint area. LeBron James erupted for 47, as he celebrated his birthday night at the expense of the Hawks. The Lakers are among the top teams in the league when it comes to scoring in the paint area. They are only 2nd to Memphis Grizzlies in the most points scored per game in the paint area with 56.1 points.

Moreover, the Lakers also scored 23 transition points to win the game. Replacing Davis, Thomas Bryant has definitely elevated his game to an exponentially higher level, in rebounding and scoring points. He has been averaging over 18 points per game for the Lakers. He has also come strong on the boards and has been averaging over 12 rebounds a game for the Lakers. Bryant can not only score points in the paint but can also shoot from distance.

LeBron coming back to the lineup is a huge boost for Los Angeles. James not only scores the points with utmost ease, but he also creates offense for other players on the floor. The return of the 4 x MVP also gives them a better chance to get some wins on their home-court games, as they wait for Davis to return to the lineup.
