“I took it personally tonight” – 21-year-old Anthony Edwards EMULATES ‘Mamba Mentality’ in spirit and performance, surpasses Kobe Bryant
Anthony Edwards breaks Kobe Bryant's record as the Timberwolves beat the Nuggets in Game 4

Anthony Edwards
Anthony Edwards performed a record-breaking performance against the Denver Nuggets in game 4 of the Western Conference first round. The Nuggets were up 3-0, and Edwards scored 34 points in a 114-108 overtime victory for the Minnesota Timberwolves. This was the first game to go to overtime this playoff, and the team trailing in the series managed to win.
Edwards recorded the 2nd most 30+ point playoff games for a player 21 years old or younger, surpassing Kobe Bryant. The 21-year-old guard recorded his fifth 30-point game and is only behind LeBron James, who had recorded eight 30-point playoff games before turning 22. Edwards was interviewed post-game on his performance, where he displayed a very Kobe-like Mamba mentality.
“I don’t ever want to say I got swept in my career. So, I definitely took it personally tonight,” said Anthony Edwards as he dropped one of his best playoff performances while facing elimination. The Minnesota Timberwolves were eliminated in the first round in 2021/22 by the Memphis Grizzlies. Despite Edwards’s game four effort with the series returning to Denver, Minnesota will unlikely survive the past five games.

Anthony Edwards kept his promise after game 3 and kept the series alive

After the Denver Nuggets took a 3-0 stronghold on the series, Anthony Edwards spoke to the media and said – “This series is not over. It’s the first to four, not to three. I promise you it isn’t over. Everyone’s counting us out. It ain’t over. I promise you.” Edwards delivered his bold promise by ensuring the Timberwolves did not lose despite going to overtime.
Anthony Edwards scored 5 points in overtime, including a three-point shot with 12 seconds left to give Minnesota a four-point lead. He constantly drew comparisons to Michael Jordan due to their similar facial appearance, and last night, Edwards looked the part. Edwards exploded in the third quarter with 16 points.
The 21-year-old, who is now tied with James Harden as the only player in NBA history with at least 30 points, five rebounds, five assists, two steals, and two blocks in a playoff game, made history with his series-extending performance. “Shoutout to Kobe, man. I haven’t made it out of the first round, it’s great to be mentioned with those guys but I still got work to do,” Edwards said when he got to know about breaking Kobe’s record.
