D’Angelo Russell, 27, has gained attention as a result of his outstanding performance in the Lakers’ 127-97 win over the Warriors in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals. Russell’s aggressive scoring style helped the Lakers win the game and showed off his wide range of abilities.
Russell has played for five teams in his eight seasons, which has resulted in his talent , but his feet have never quite had the chance to settle. However, with his current aggressive energy and playing style, he is thriving on the Lakers, compared to his restricted role with the Timberwolves. His performance has highlighted his abilities as a player and reminded everyone of his potential.
During the Lakers’ Game 3, Russell showed off his impressive range, hitting three early 3-pointers that put the Warriors on their heels. He also made a running layup that put the Lakers up 11-4 during his one-man run, which lasted less than four minutes. Russell continued to showcase his skills by hitting two more 3-pointers, followed by a layup on the break.
After Russell’s impressive 21-point, five-assist, plus-14 outing was over, it was only fitting that he wore an actual bag on his hip. D’Angelo Russell’s basketball blessing

Russell’s switch to the Lakers was a major basketball boost for him. He had previously been a part of the Timberwolves, where he was attempting to find his rhythm despite being aware that Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns were ahead of him in the order of importance.
Russell credits his time with the Warriors, where he spent 33 games in the 2019-20 campaign, for helping him develop as a player. He learned a lot from the team, brushing shoulders with Steph Curry and seeing how he operates, how he moves, and how he talks. Russell also saw how Draymond Green plays defense and learned from everyone on the team.
“I learned so much from those guys,” Russell told The Athletic. “Brushing shoulders with Steph, seeing how he operates, how he moved, how he talked. Draymond (Green), seeing the way he can play defense. What everybody (there) does is special, and I got to cross paths with it. I got to see all that, and I put it all in my bag and took it with me, you know what I mean?”
Russell has been playing some of the most impactful basketball of his career since joining the Lakers, and his performance in Game 3 showed why he is an essential part of the team’s strategy. His performance shows that despite his inconsistency, he still provides the team, which has 38-year-old great LeBron James, with much-needed offensive help.
Russell’s performance comes at the perfect time as free agency is less than two months away, and every one of these Lakers performances makes it clearer that he deserves another big deal.
