“I’m going to have to bust your a** and s**t” – All you need to know about LeBron James and Desmond Bane’s stirring exchange
LeBron James looks out for Desmond Bane as he wears LeBron XXs, seeming to send him more of his signature shoes
Wearing another player’s shoe is nothing to be ashamed of for NBA players. It’s a pretty normal thing to do as players would choose the best option for themselves. Preventing injuries and having comfort while still being able to perform at their best is the type of shoe every player needs. Desmond Bane of the Memphis Grizzlies had a rough time figuring out the best shoe for himself.
The solution he came up with was bittersweet. Bane decided to wear LeBron James’ signature shoes, LeBron XXs. He had tried multiple signature Nikes, but in the end, settled with LeBrons. Though what followed was a roller coaster of a series of events.

Desmond Bane’s decision wasn’t to throw shade at LeBron James
Desmond Bane dealt with a sprain on his toe last year in November, and since then he’s been playing through pain. To minimize the effect of injury, Bane went on to test out different Nike shoes. Though his decision to wear LeBrons wasn’t to throw shade at James, as he simply found those shoes to be the best fit for him. After he settled with LeBrons, the Grizzlies played the Lakers on Jan 20th. James and Bane have had their history of competitive matchups and trash talk. Entering that game, wearing LeBrons added more spice to their matchup. The Lakers ended up winning by a point, 122-121 with James having some words for Bane.
James asked Bane if he had more of LeBrons and if he needed any more. This wasn’t to throw any shade at Bane wearing his shoes, but a genuine question from LeBron as Bane later said. James and Bane had been quiet since and didn’t really heat up at each other. Recently after the Game 1 victory, LeBron confirmed that he actually wanted to look out for Bane to send him more pairs of his signature shoes if needed. “I joked about it a few years ago, like, if a guy’s wearing my sneakers I’m going to have to bust your a** and s**t… I just think that’s super dope. And I got to send some more to him now. I got to make sure he’s a LeBron athlete now.”, said James.
King James admires if someone wears his signature shoes. Having spent 20 years in the league, to see young players rocking his signatures is definitely a sign of how durable LeBron has been with his game. If LeBron is to launch his own signature brand like Jordan, Bane would definitely be the top prospect to sign up.
As the series is now tied at one apiece, the Lakers look to take home-court advantage. It will be interesting to see how this series will turn out.
