LeBron James is one of the few players in the league drafted straight out of high school in 2003. During his high school years, LeBron James used to play football for his school, and according to scouting reports, he was very good. Recently, a video surfaced of LeBron playing tight end for his high school team.

According to reports dating back, LeBron missed the opening game of his junior season, and without any training camp or practice, he returned to the team and dominated on the field. Multiple colleges were looking to offer LeBron a scholarship, and one NFL scout even claimed that he could have been the best tight end in the league’s history if he had pursued football instead of basketball.

Brian Windhorst, who has been following LeBron since high school, mentioned in a recent episode of ESPN’s NBA Today why LeBron almost quit playing football in his sophomore year. He said, “[LeBron James] was going to quit football after his sophomore year, but then Aaliyah, one of his favorite singers, tragically died in a plane crash. He decided he wasn’t going to live life scared.”
