Draymond Green has been a regular name in NBA headlines. As he recently opted out of his $27.6 million player option and became a Free Agent. Since then, rumors and several updates around his uncertain future have been the subject of heated discussion. The Golden State Warriors, who chose the young core of the team over Draymond Green last season, are now trying their best to retain the four-time NBA champion. But the contract the former DPOY is demanding won’t settle well with the Dubs, especially with the new CBA kicking in.
Also, many teams are interested in shopping Draymond Green this off-season on the Free Agent market. NBA Insider Brian Windhorst, though, believes the Sacramento Kings, who are in need of a player like Draymond Green, can now go hunting for him. On draft night, the franchise made some much-needed cap space, which can allow them to honor a contract the former DPOY is in search of.
Brian Windhorst after the Draft night claimed the Sacramento Kings to be a great fit for Draymond Green. While doing so, he quoted: “The Kings can now go hunting for Draymond Green if they wish. And that would be extraordinarily interesting because it is the exact, the exact, type of player they need. You know, it would be interesting with Sabonis. That would be an interesting first practice.”
Brian Windhorst did clown Draymond Green for his beef with Domantas Sabonis and the greats he registered in the practices last summer. But none of that takes away anything from the Sacramento Kings, who are the potential rivals of the Golden State Warriors to sign the four-time NBA champion. They need a veteran, a leader, and a voice in the system, and that’s exactly what the former DPOY can bring to the table.
Brian Windhorst’s latest update on FA Draymond Green situation with the Golden State Warriors
Brian Windhorst, on the latest episode of ESPN’s “Get Up” updated the basketball world with an update on the Draymond Green and Dubs situation. The Insider revealed how, before going on to his European trip, Draymond Green met with the Golden State Warriors front office and had a constructive discussion with them about how the Dubs could still retain him and be a contender.
Brian Windhorst quoted: “He met with the Warriors ahead of his decision to opt out of his contract… So yeah he opts out but with an intention to talk to him about a new deal….. This cleans up some of the pressure on their books going forward and brings them in a position to offer Draymond Green a long-term contract.”
Further, Brian Windhorst also mentioned how the Detroit Pistons and Sacramento Kings are great options for Green to sign with. But he won’t be choosing them if the Golden State Warriors are ready to hand him the contract he’s seeking. Draymond Green wants a $100 million contract for the next three years. Still, nothing can be said about his future, but in a few weeks, it could be a done deal.
