After Damian Lillard requested a trade on July 1st, he made it clear through various means that he only wants to play for the Miami Heat, and teams would not receive a happy player if he is traded anywhere else. Due to such messages by Dame, it has made other teams reluctant to make a serious offer to him.

ESPN’s NBA Insider and Analyst Brian Windhorst talked about the same, saying that no other team is interested now. He also believes the Heat too are not making a serious offer either.”The real thing about Heat guys, as I look across the league and have conversations with executives and agents, I can’t identify another team that is seriously making an offer for Damian Lillard at this point. My belief is that the Heat can’t either.”

The Miami Heat team is trying to accumulate resources to trade for Dame because the Portland Trail Blazers don’t fancy an offer package centered around Tyler Herro. According to reports by senior NBA Insider Shams Charania, the Heat have offered the Trailblazers Herro, expiring contracts, and 3-4 first-round picks.

Trailblazers GM Joe Cronin hasn’t been fond of the offers he has been receiving for his franchise’s star player, Dame, who has been Portland’s franchise player for 10 years and averaged a career-high of 32.2 points last season. He made the All-NBA third team just after playing 58 games last year.

In a recent press conference, Cronin made a statement addressing Dame’s trade request, saying that he is willing to wait for months and won’t trade Dame until the team receives an exciting offer.“What I’ve learned more than anything is patience is critical… We’re going to be patient, we’re going to do what’s best for our team. And if it takes months, it takes months,” Cronin said.

The NBA has released a new memo stating that Dame will face consequences if he doesn’t fulfill his contract duties after being traded to somewhere other than Miami, allowing teams to make offers for him. This has made fans excited to see where Dame gets traded.
