LeBron James down with ankle injury

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have gotten to a point where every single game going forward, decides their chance in the playoffs. On Sunday, in the game against the Dallas Mavericks, they not only showed that but also signs that this Laker can go deep in the postseason. However, in a historical win against the Mavs, the Lakers also had bad news. James suffered an ankle injury in the third quarter, and even though he played the entire game, he was seen limping after.

The four-time NBA champion apparently injured his ankle in the third quarter, with 3:16 left on the clock. He was attempting a layup but the attempt fell short. Immediately after the failed try, he fell to the ground, grabbing his right foot. While he was grabbing his foot in pain, he kept saying to his teammates and medical staff, “I heard it pop,” while he kept lying on the ground. However, being the Iron Man that the Lakers star is, he got up and continued to play in the game, helping the Lakers to register an impossible win.

After the game head coach, Darvin Ham told the reporters that James will be re-evaluated in the coming days. “He’s good,” Ham told reporters. “Our medical people are looking at him right now, he’ll get reevaluated again in the morning.” In another update, James told Kyle Goon that his ankle was better and such injuries would not keep him out of the game. The good news is, all season, he has been listed under “left foot soreness” or “left ankle soreness”.

Every single win for the Lakers decides their fate for the remainder of the season, and they played just like that. The Mavs were leading by as many as 27 points in the second quarter, which was cut to 14 by the end of the quarter. The Lakers after halftime looked completely different and played with a will to force a win. They held Dallas to 20 points in the third quarter and just like that the lead was cut to three.

It was the time for the stars to shine, as James and Davis once again gave a glimpse of who they could be, come playoff time. Both the stars combined for 18 points in the fourth quarter, while Doncic and Irving went out of gas. Eventually, the Lakers defeated the Mavericks by 108-111. It was the biggest lead cut to win the game throughout the season as so far the record had been 0-138. James and Davis scored 26 and 30 points respectively.
