“I know plenty of WHITE dudes fooling around” – Is there racial motivation behind Ime Udoka’s cheating scandal?
Ime Udoka and Wycliffe Grousbeck
Ime Udoka is the talk of the town in the NBA world. The Boston Celtics coach went from the most-appreciated person in the NBA community to the most hated in a span of just three months.
Ime Udoka, former basketball player and NBA coach of the Boston Celtics recently put himself into trouble after his illegitimate, intimate, relationship with a fellow Boston staff worker. The coach is being put on the hot seat for cheating on his long-time partner, Nia Long.
This news has rattled the entire NBA community and Udoka is being blasted left, right, and center for cheating on the Hollywood actress. Though this act of the Boston Celtics coach cannot be morally acceptable, playing devil’s advocate, one must ponder why this news about a personal affair of a coach is being put on the front cover but eh organization itself.
Stephen A Smith, ESPN reporter, like many others in the world right now, is starting to wonder if this controversy has been blown out of proportion owing to racial motivation. This is not the first time an NBA star has been caught red-handed for his unfaithful act.
Not often do you see an NBA franchise feeding news to the media about their own coach having a relationship with his own co-worker, says Stephen A Smith. According to the ESPN reporter, several NBA heads who are white have previously been alleged to have improper relationships with their co-workers but the situation never got this big as that of Ime Udoka.
Stephen A Smith questions the magnitude of Ime Udoka’s cheating scandal
According to Shams Charania, the Boston Celtics head coach has been suspended for the entire 2022-23 season. Fans and critics alike are puzzled as to how having consensual sex has got the Nigerian coach into more trouble than what several other NBA executives and players have gone through for assault and other miserable crimes.
“It would be irresponsible and none of my damn business. Just like it’s none of our damn business now,” said Smith on the First Take show talking about the Udoka – Long controversy. Stephen A Smith then questioned why several white executives or coaches in the past who have committed unethical acts have never been put through the same waters as Ime.
“I don’t see nothing being put out and disseminated to the masses with these white dudes that’s doing this stuff. I know plenty of white dudes that were screwing around while they executives or coaches,” said Stephen A Smith.
To put things in better perspective, Deshaun Watson, an NFL player was suspended for only half the season (2 months) for abusing several women. Robert Sarver, owner of Phoenix Suns was suspended for only 1 year for blatant racism. We’ll let you do the math on how Ime Udoka’s one-year ban sounds a little fishy…
