“You know it’s like lightskin? I’m brightskin!” Knicks star Isaiah Hartenstein hilariously clears confusion about his race
Hartenstein finally reveals his race with a hilarious term.
Isaiah Hartenstein with his father
Isaiah Hartenstein, the New York Knick has recently caught a lot of attention on social media after he revealed his race. Hartenstein joined the Knicks back in 2022, having played for four NBA teams before he arrived in The Big Apple. The 25-year-old has mostly been a bench player so far in his career and has played his role quite decently.
Now playing alongside Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, Isaiah Hartenstein is having the most efficient season of his career. In a recent episode of the Roommates show, Hartenstein revealed his race which left Brunson surprised.
You know it's like lightskin? I'm brightskin. I'm above lightskin. Yeah my dad is black. Any time people find out... When they find out I'm black, it changes the whole vibe. The whole vibe changes.Isaiah Hartenstein said
By the looks of him, Hartenstein does look like someone whose race often gets misjudged. The Knick did not reveal his race before. His father, Florian Hartenstein played for the University of Oregon and continues to show his love for the game, as he has looked into coaching teams.
Isaiah Hartenstein has the basketball genes in him
Isaiah’s father played professional basketball in Germany back in the early 2000s. His 11-year professional career ended in 2011, following which he took to coaching youth basketball. Florian also played center for the Oregon Ducks from 1997-2001, having averaged 3.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Isaiah is 7 feet tall, which is quite obvious, with his father being 6-foot-9.
Hartenstein has had quite a career so far, continuing to improve on his craft. The German-American has some serious potential in him and can work his way up to a more productive player. Playing for the Knicks, the squad is third in the East looking to climb to the second seed. Hartenstein plays for around 25 minutes a game and has been quite clean, knowing his role on both ends of the floor.
With less than ten games remaining in the regular season, the Knicks will look to maintain their record. Having been eliminated in the second round last year, the team is much more organized and complete this season. It will be interesting to see how far the Knicks can go this postseason having players like Julius Randle, OG Anunoby, and Alec Burks out indefinitely due to injuries.
