In defense of Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon, who faced criticism for her comments on New York Knicks star point guard Jalen Brunson, Isiah Thomas, the 12-time NBA All-Star and Hall of Famer, has stepped forward.

During her appearance on ESPN’s NBA Today, Hammon asserted that Brunson isn’t an “A1 dude.” She went as far as claiming that, due to his size, Brunson lacks the ability to lead his team to postseason success and become a top player in the division.

Isiah Thomas, in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), said this in a follow-up to Hammon’s post:

Facts @BeckyHammon sadly this game historically does favor the Taller, stronger athlete and when smaller sized people have success it is more impressive in my opinion. The 1A player has historically been taller players than myself or Steph we are the outliers.

Drafted as the second overall pick in the 1981 NBA draft, the NBA Hall of Famer dedicated his entire professional career to the Detroit Pistons. Notably, he secured two NBA championships in 1989 and 1990 despite being a relatively small player for a point guard.

Brunson’s 36 points not enough as Bucks win the Knicks

In a hard-fought basketball game at Madison Square Garden yesterday, the New York Knicks succumbed to the Milwaukee Bucks 130-111. This loss marked the conclusion of the Knicks’ two-game winning streak.

Closing the game with an impressive performance, Brunson accumulated 36 points, three rebounds, and seven assists. Julius Randle, providing substantial support, contributed 26 points, eight rebounds, and a single assist. Despite their efforts, it was insufficient to propel the Knicks to victory. On the opposing side, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Bucks concluded the game with 28 points, seven assists, and rebounds.

Currently positioned at 6th on the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 16-12, the Knicks are gearing up for their next game, another home encounter against the Milwaukee Bucks.
