If LeBron James can make other retired NBA players feel too old in their late thirties and forties, the young stars in the league also do make him feel old. While James is enjoying playing basketball at a high level at 38 years of age, Jabari Smith Jr. made him feel old on the court. Before the game started Smith Jr. told the Los Angeles Lakers superstar that he had played with his father also. Smith Jr.’s father Jabari Smith played against LeBron, in the Lakers superstar’s first game as a rookie.
When a reporter asked James how it felt to play against both father and son in his NBA career, James said it made him feel old. “It made me feel extremely old when Junior told me that,” James said after the game. James added that the Rookie even told him that he must feel old. “I think he even said it like, ‘You probably feel old,'” LeBron recalled.
This is not the first time that LeBron has played against both father and son in his career. The 4 x NBA Champion has also played against Gary Payton and Gary Payton II; Rick Brunson and his son, Jalen Brunson; and Gary Trent Sr. and Gary Trent Jr. 20-year old superstar has also played against Memphis Grizzlies’ Zaire Williams, who is also Bronny James (LeBron’s son) high-school teammate. He plays with Scotty Pippen Jr., who is also on the Lakers’ roster this season. “I’ve just been extremely blessed to be able to play this game and to be able to touch multiple generations,” James said.
