“We got game, we can still play!” J.R Smith claims NBA is “Blackballing” him and other veterans
JR Smith
J.R Smith has been infamous with the 2018 blunder which undoubtedly did cost LeBron and the Cavs not just the game but the title. Smith believes that due to the mistake he has been blackballed by teams and included some other names that he thinks can still ball on the court.
On a video released by Complex, Smith stated, “You got those 30 teams, or the top three people on each 30 team, and exclude them. Give me the 4th through 15th man, just the 4 through 15. Name one of them that’s better than me.But I’m sitting here like, bro, come on, I’ve worked out with these dudes. I’ve watched their GMs come up to me and ask me, ‘Yo, why are you not playing?’ You know why I’m not playing. And I feel like it’s a whole genre that happened to. The Joe Johnson’s, who obviously still got game, still can play. Jamal Crawford, still got game, still can play. Nick Young, still got game, still can play. Isaiah Thomas, still got game, still can play.”
Smith Can Return To The League
While his mistakes have been grave, and J.R Smith is obviously not the same player that he was coming into the league, a second chance should be given to him and even the other veterans that he has mentioned who were once names that were in NBA headlines on a recurring basis. While teams at the end of seasons offer 10-day contracts, Smith could pick one up and prove he still belongs in the league.
JR Smith drafted by the New Orleans Hornets has averaged 12.4 shooting points, 2.1 assists, and 3.1 total rebounds in his carrer, and after his exit from the NBA went over to China to play in the CBA and later took up golf and got his college degree. While he has been moving up on the age, he can still be a major contributing factor to teams in the league.
