“Don’t bully him like that” JA Morant cannot stop gushing as Kenny Lofton sends Chet Holmgren to school

The odds of Number 2 overall pick in the 2022 Draft class, Chet Holmgren sky-rocketed when he made his debut in the Summer League. He dropped 23 points, 6 blocks and 4 treys and managed to showcase just why he is amongst the most spoken-off modern-day players. However, comes the Grizzlies’ upcoming stars, Kenny Lofton brought him back to Earth in the most savage way.

Memphis’ un-drafted rookie, Kenny Lofton Jr showed exactly how Chet Holmgren should be slowed down and out of the game. He used his strength and power to fetch all the limelight towards him. As a result of which, Ja Morant couldn’t avoid reacting on Kenny Lofton’s strong performance in Wednesday’s matchup of Grizzlies vs OKC Thunder future prospects.

To those who missed the action, Kenny Lofton physically manhandled Holmgren in the paint, shoving him under the basket for a lay-in. A couple possessions later, he did it again from the other side of the court. That forced the Thunder rookie to play off of him more. The Memphis Grizzlies youngster took advantage and pulled up and nailed a trey in his face. This led to Ja Morant opinionating on the same in the most savage manner.

Grizzlies have their premium shot blocker, Jaren Jackson Jr out for at least four to six months after his respective surgery and is looking for younger players who can replace him and provide the much-required help around the rim. Given that Kenny Lofton can score points as significantly as he can block and protect the rim, Grizzlies could be looking at a future star in the making. To bring everyone on the same page, Grizzlies signed Lofton Jr. to a two-way deal a couple of weeks ago. Every team is allowed to sign two players who do not count toward the salary cap.

Having already stopped Chet Holmgren in the most emphatic manner, will Lofton Jr be able to get a chance to play against the big boys in the 2022-23 season? Remains to be seen.
