Ja Morant and Grizzlies fight
An altercation broke out in the third quarter of Sunday’s game between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Indiana Pacers, resulting in the removal of one spectator from courtside. Players from both teams got involved after Ja Morant and Pacers guard Andrew Nembhard started trash-talking during the third quarter at FedExForum. James Johnson got angry with Morant’s friend Davonte Pack, who was seated courtside and started yelling at him. Before being led away by security, Pack walked a few feet and made a gesture at the players.
According to Morant, he went up to Andrew Nembhard after overhearing him warn his father to be quiet. After the Memphis guard went up to Nembhard, multiple Pacers came up to intervene. “I heard my pops ask (Nembhard) did he say shut up so I was trying to figure out who he was talking to. Obviously, I saw it was him so I approached him seeing what he was on,” Ja said. “I checked his temperature, he didn’t have a fever, then (Chris) Duarte came over and tried to push me…I told him stop pushing me. He said he was cool and when his teammates came over, he started talking,” said Morant.
“Kicked my brother out. We got the W, so we kicked them out of the Forum too,” said Morant, who had 27 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds. Later the apologetic Sharpe admitted his wrongdoing.
