JA Morant dunks on D’Angelo Russell

Grizzlies star guard JA Morant has made the internet go berserk through his recent poster dunk on Timberwolves guard D’Angelo Russell during the first game of the round one on Saturday night. Although it was not a good game for the Grizzlies their star guard JA Morant didn’t let the show go easy for the Timberwolves. The star guard scored 32 points with eight assists, for the team.

To those who are not aware, Ja Morant is known as the aerial artistry of the league because of his explosiveness and holding time in the air, he has mastered the art of dunking on the league big man which we have seen all season.

So how is it possible that he won’t attempt those explosive moves in the playoffs? Whenever someone says that this person wakes up and chooses violence, he/she is probably talking about JA Morant. Even against the Wolves when the grizzlies were struggling to make points the 6’3 guard took control and started dominating the court. At 5.19 minutes remaining before the end of the game, Morant threw down the most impressive dunk on D’Angelo Russell who couldn’t defend and fell due to contact between them.

Moreover, no matter how hard the Grizzlies played they were not able to make a big comeback in the game. The Minnesota Timberwolves edged out them by 130-117 and took the lead of 1-0 from the second seed of the western conference. In this series mostly everyone predicted that the Grizzlies will one-sidedly dominate the Wolves and make their way to the second round of the playoffs but it seems that Anthony Edward and Co. have entered with a different mindset.

JA Morant and Anthony Edwards

Edwards scored 36-points in his postseason debut, he was 12 of 23 from the field goal and 4 of 11 from behind the arc. The ant-man gave a tough night to the whole Grizzlies squad. As for Memphis, if they don’t want to end their postseason soon just like last year they need to come up with a new strategy on their offense and defense to make a deep playoff run this season. It will be interesting to watch whether the Grizzlies can overcome it or not.
